Why Hill of Fiddes
Existing Wind Turbine at Hill of Fiddes
Hill of Fiddes was selected as a potentially suitable site for a wind energy development for a number of key reasons:
- Strong wind resource supported by 6 years of independently audited data
- Sufficient set back from properties
- No local or national ecological or landscape designations
- Existing electricity line with capacity runs through site thereby avoiding the need for additional pylons
- Feasible transport access
- Scope for farm diversification
- Does not Impact on the operation of civilian or military airfields, radar installations or flight routes
Finally, as any area resident will know, the Hill of Fiddes has been the site for a 25 metre turbine for many years. This local landmark has reached the end of its useful life and will be removed as part of the construction process.
